Embroidery Thread Colors
Browse our standard thread palette and learn how we match thread to your logo so your embroidery looks exactly as expected.
Thread Is Not Ink
Embroidery thread comes in fixed colors and can't be mixed like ink. We match your artwork to the closest thread on our standard chart and show it on your proof—always check the thread colors before approving. Monitor settings affect how colors look on screen; the stitched result will match the thread number, not your screen.

How Embroidery Differs From Print
✨ Thread Has Sheen
Thread reflects light. The same color can look a little lighter or darker depending on the stitch type, the direction of the stitches, and the angle you view it from. That's the look of real embroidery, not a color change.
-
Solid colors only — Thread can't blend or fade. Gradients and photo-style artwork are simplified into solid thread colors on your proof.
-
Small details get simplified — Very small text and thin lines don't stitch cleanly, so we'll adjust them and show you the change before production.
-
Priced by stitches, not colors — Embroidery pricing is based on stitch count, so use the colors your logo needs.
🔍 Same Thread, Two Looks
Here's the same navy thread stitched two ways. Lettering and outlines use satin stitches that catch more light; large areas use fill stitches that look flatter.
Garment color and texture matter too. Dark thread on a dark garment disappears, and fine detail fills in on textured fabrics like pique polos and fleece. If your logo needs an outline or a lighter color to read well, we'll suggest it on your proof.
Want a subtle tone-on-tone look on purpose? Just ask — we'll match the thread to the garment and note it on your proof.
Have a Pantone Color to Match?
Thread can't be custom-mixed, but we can get close. Include your PMS codes with your order and we'll select the nearest Madeira thread for each color and show it on your proof.
💡 Good to Know

Standard colors ship fastest: — Every color on this chart is stocked. Colors we have to order can add time to your job.
-
Garment color affects thread: — The same thread reads differently on light, dark, and heathered garments.
-
Exact hue not guaranteed: — Thread sheen and stitch direction mean slight shade differences are normal.
